Martin Williams is a highly experienced Principal Geotechnical & Geoenvironmental engineer, with over 30 years experience, in numerous engineering businesses.

He is also a Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Computer Software specialist, designing, developing and programming the Geologs system.

Geologs was developed in 2007 and has been operating ‘under the radar’ with select clients since then. Martin’s philosophy is to ‘work smart not hard’ and Geologs was developed to aid future upcoming engineers with a no fuss, efficient system that can integrate with back office and other systems to be a one stop shop.

Martin has a First Class Honours degree in Computing in addition to his Geotechnical qualifications and is an expert in the UK AGS data transfer format and database design as it relates to geotechnical engineering.

Consequently, he is best placed to advise on computer and data management to engineers, because he understands requirements from both sides.

He has also developed numerous ‘in-house’ applications for engineering firms and is able to rewrite legacy solutions such as engineering spreadsheets into proper computer programs adhering to Quality Assurance protocols and in-house validation.

Martin offers consultancy to engineering and other businesses, looking for advice and solutions to their fragmented business processes and data issues, allowing technical engineering systems to integrate with back office business systems.

Patrick is acting as a guide to assist and support Martin on his journey with Geologs.

He will also provide an independent point of view based on his experience working for two well-known engineering consultancies on the systems and processes Geologs develops with its customers.

Before opening Ground, Patrick spent 12 years working for two well-known Geotechnical Specialists in non-technical roles involving business development, contract review, recruitment, project management, quality, HR and safety systems development, ISO certification and auditing, commercial review of proposals, and the management of a team of 25 geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists with P&L responsibility.

He looks forward to helping Geologs become even more successful and to play his part in assisting Geologs customers in developing great systems.
